Bicycle User Group (BUG) & HCC Cycle Training Courses

Bicycle User Group (BUG)

A bicycle user group is being set up for Boorley Park.

The Bicycle User Group is a group made up of individuals who are cyclists in the local area and are keen to promote and encourage others to do so. The BUG provides a unique platform for cyclists to share information on routes, safety, cycle maintenance and more between themselves and to new or less experienced cyclists. It enables less experienced cyclists to contact others and obtain guidance as well as helping individuals find likeminded people to cycle with.

HCC Cycle Training

Bikeability for Children

Hampshire County Council offer Bikeability training for children in year 5 to year 9 as a part of their safer to schools’ initiative. Bikeability is a three-level bike training course, aimed at improving children’s confidence on a bike and help them deal with road conditions. As a result of the program, children have the confidence to cycle to and from school. Funding is available for the course and is often included in the curriculum for schools across the country.

Bikability for Adults

Bikeability courses are also available for adults wanting to get into cycling at approximately £50pp for a group session. The courses offer an amazing opportunity to learn and improve cycling skills, and build confidence to replace car journeys with cycling.
